Camp Compass Academy is a charity founded by Trexler Middle School teacher John Annoni. The program is a year round adolescent development system that works with youth beyond normal school hours developing their social and academic growth through outdoors pursuits. The program has been serving students for over 20 years and has garnered national attention, this time twice in a day. “The students chosen for the TV opportunity happened to be all boys but our girls want the world to know they are the better hunters,” Annoni said with a smile. “We have proven kids are capable of crossing over bridges if they are built and beating odds if they are bet on.” The 2 boys featured on the Mossy Oak show Jarred Albright and Antony Garcia are both Allen students while Martin Neumann and David Bonilla are Dieruff students. All have been in the program for more than four years. The turkey TV show was filmed at Full Fan Lodge in Montrose, Pennsylvania last April. Camp Compass has partnered with the donating outfitter for over fifteen years. On the other hand, the CPTR’D documentary was shot in Arkansas where the boys were able to travel over the recent Christmas break for 4 days. Both Martin and David experienced their first flights and their first taste of southern hospitality.
