“That’s what a chicken looks like.” That’s the response a 7th grader gave at the waterfowl taxidermy lesson the Wards came back to give. The deer taxidermy lesson went so well that it was determined that another this time on ducks should happen. The weather was nice enough to hold class outside and students watched as a duck was skinned and the parts of the body were identified. It was really neat to see the students drawing similarities to what they see in the store and on their dinner plates. Learning at the academy is about drawing personal connections with what is being taught and we are the best at that type of teaching.
