Camp Compass Joins with Cabela’s for National Hunting and Fishing Day

Urban Youth Virtual Hunter’s Event is an example and inspiration for others.

Allentown, PA   The award winning urban hunting and shooting elongation program Camp Compass teamed up with Cabela’s to challenge urban students in Allentown, PA to a virtual competition and some academics.

Each student registered for the event had the opportunity to shoot 3 sessions. The sessions were a training round and then two more hunting scenarios for a competitive score.  “This is more than introducing kids to National Hunting and Fishing day”’ John Annoni founder of Camp Compass said.   “We are requiring the students to do math around their scores to be eligible for the additional random prizes.  The participants were doing school type work without even knowing it.  That expectation adds more value to the event.”

There were two divisions one for grades 6-8 and the other 9-12 with prizes being provided by Cabela’s for  first, second and third places in each group.  In addition, two more random prizes were offered for each group based on correctly adding their shooting scene scores.

“We have partnered with Camp Compass on a numerous events and thought this combination of academic and social elements was a great idea” noted Harold Luther, Retail Marketing Manager at the Hamburg Cabela’s store.  “Our main goal was to introduce youth to the benefits of the outdoor lifestyle, especially on National Hunting and Fishing Day, and this virtual challenge event Camp Compass put together was a great solution to getting the maximum amount of youth participation and involvement.”
