Let's face it, the success of the Academy depends upon individuals that care about it, its kids and it's mission. It's time we start to ask for those like-minded individuals, that believe in our fight, to pick up a torch and walk beside current torch bearers. It’s our passion for children that brings a new found quality to their lives. We believe that every child, no matter what circumstances they may be in, should have the opportunity to experience positive people and activities. Therefore, we are constantly spending time with students in the field, water, and in the classroom. We can prove that our students feel like they belong to a family. It is vital in today’s tough environments that we as adults provide not only advice but an ear as well.

The regional growth, and indeed the survival of Camp Compass, points to the willingness of local individuals to participate. Without the voluntary involvement of local sportsmen, the best laid plans of any such program would not succeed. It’s been noted that most committed outdoorsmen, for various reasons, are generous by nature and seem readily disposed to share their hard-won skills.
- PA State Criminal Record Check (Section 1-111 of the Pennsylvania School Code – Act 34) – This form can be accessed from the PA State Police website at https://epatch.state.pa.us. COST: $10.00
- Child Abuse Clearance (Sections 6354-6358 of the Public Welfare Code – Act 151) – This form can be accessed from the PA Department of Human Services website at https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/home. COST: $10.00
- FBI Federal Criminal Background – To initiate this background check, applicants must register online at https://www.pa.cogentid.com/index_pde.htmunder the PA Department of Education. No other agency registration, such as the Department of Welfare, will be accepted. COST: $28.75
